The Other Fairfield Horseshoe

This challenge takes you to 5 Lakeland summits - Hartsop above How, Hart Crag, Fairfield, St, Sunday Crag and Birks
You'll climb about 1,017metres (3,345 feet)
You'll walk about 13 km (9 miles)
This is our very own alternative to the popular 'Fairfield Horseshoe'. It's similar in length and effort but is a much more interesting route and with better views, particularly towards Ullswater and the Eastern coves of the Helvellyn range. One of the finest sites on the route is the magnificent site of the precipitous cliffs of Dove Crag as you approach Hart Crag from Hartsop above How.
The route approaches Fairfield from the opposite direction to the usual 'Fairfield Horshoe', starting at Brother's Water and finishing in Patterdale. It can be done in either direction but we describe it here in the clockwise direction which is the better way to do this challenge.
